I'll be raving about Nigerian - Korean models HAN HYUN MIN and BAE YOO JIN.

I was reading an article on model poses, his picture was  on the list, that was the first time I saw him. I can't remember how I got to know about him, maybe it was a friend that told me about him being a Nigerian - Korean.

An aside as in I was so hyped yeah, cause duh; I'm Nigerian and I love Hallyu. You can imagine my joy.

I was surprised and all, Amebo mode activated (curiosity) I found out he was the first Black Korean model to break into the South Korean modeling industry. He had said in an interview with Vogue;

“Because my skin is different, some designers and brands won’t really use me,” he says. “But rather than leaving, I want to work harder—being Han Hyun Min and building my own unique charm is important to me.”

I watched a clip from a Korean variety show  MY ENGLISH PUBERTY it's about learning English as a second language. On the show Hyun Min admitted that he understands English cause his Mom speaks it to him sadly he can't speak English check out more. He was listed among the top 30 influential teens in 2017 in Time magazine .

 An aside he also featured in a high school drama HIP HOP KING - NASSNA STREET i watched the first episode episode with a friend and she said ' he has a Nigerian accent even though he speaks Korean ' I so agree.

I guess last year or early this year I searched the internet for Nigerian-Korean models don't know why I did? Bae Yoo Jin came up wawu 😮

In an interview with Koreantimes, she talked about her struggles and experience of racism and bullying from her seniors in middle school cause she was biracial. During that period her mother was there to motivate and encourage her.

An aside Han Hyun Min and Bae Yoo jin went through discrimination cause of their skin color. Both are born to Nigerian fathers and South Korean mothers

She said Han Hyun Min's a childhood /family friend. Han Hyun Min's success as a model influenced her choice to start modelling. Though her mother encouraged and cautioned her about the downsides and suggested she became a flight attendant so she can explore the world.

                

An aside funny enough they both insist they're Koreans, and I understand that cause they were born and bred in South Korea and speak the Language fluently. But that doesn't cloud the fact that they're Nigerians as much as they're Koreans. Yo! I hope you don't disconnect from your Nigerian roots, looking forward to you guys rocking Nigerian made piece on the runway.
