Popular meals in K-drama land
Watching Korean dramas made it easy to relate with most Korean cuisine,even though we haven't tasted any of them, we'll familiarize ourselves with them now till we can taste 'em,Amen?. I'll be listing out the slurping, crunchy, cheesey, licking, drinking, tasty, sumptuous deliciousness in K-drama land. Starting with the most popular;
RAMEN (라멘)
It's quite easy to make as an instant meal,some of them come in cup ready to eat packs in (Korean)convenience stores.
KIMCHI (김치)
Kimchi is a Korean side dish made of salted, seasoned and fermented vegetables ( cabbage, cucumber, radish, scallion etc). It's can be crunched alone or paired with rice, ramen, barbecued beef, pork etc. It comes in different recipes and flavors.
JAJANGMYEON (자장면)
jajangmyeon (black sauce noodles) is a Chinese-style Korean noodle dish serenaded with a thick black sauce made of chunjang (black soybean paste) diced pork/beef and vegetables. It's a favorite ordered meal in K-dramas.
BAP (법)
Bap is basically rice,but prepared differently (Korean steamed rice). It's is first washed and soaked in cold water (to give it a sticky consistency after cooking) for 30 minutes or more before it is boiled. Bap is also a synonym for food in Korean.
KIMBAP (김밥)
Kimbap (Korean sushi roll) is a Korean dish of seasoned rice (bap),vegetables and other optional ingredients rolled and sliced in dried seaweed (kim).
TTEOK-BOKKI (떡볶이)
Tteok-bokki (Korean spicy rice cakes) is a made of rice cake boiled in a saucy broth,fish cakes and hard-boiled eggs.
MANDU (만두)
Mandu is a Korean style dumplings made of tofu, vegetables, seasonings and spices, pork, beef. Served steamed or fried.
POPSICLES AND MILK DRINKS ( 디저트)
Popsicles and milk drinks are a favorite dessert eaten in K - dramaland. It varies in different flavors.
KOREAN STREET TOAST (길거라 토스투)
Korean street toast is an unconventional toast made with bread toasted in unsalted butter,sandwiched with egg, vegetables ( carrots, cabbage, onion, spring onion), salt, sugar, mustard and ketchup. Ready to eat breakfast in dramaland.
CHICKEN AND BEER (치맥)
Chicken (치킨) and Beer (맥주) is crispy fried chicken (plain or spicy) served with a chilled glass of beer.
SOJU (소주)
Soju is a Korean made clear, low alcohol distilled spirit, a weaker version of vodka. Flavored in apple, blue berry, citrus, grape and other fruits. It's a go-to for characters when they are sad, lonely, grieving or celebrating. It is sometimes mixed with beer in an upbeat situation.
